JULIA Tokyo Guest Chef Special Dining events at Genjyu | April 11-12

Chef nao, the award-winning culinary talent behind Tokyo’s acclaimed restaurant JULIA, returns to her hometown of Fukuoka for an extraordinary collaboration. Together with The Ritz-Carlton, Fukuoka’s Kaiseki Chef de Cuisine Nakashima, she will craft a modern interpretation of Kaiseki dining

—where tradition meets innovation. Chef nao's refined, contemporary plating and Chef Nakashima's deep respect for heritage converge in a one-night-only Four Hands Dinner, celebrating the rich culinary culture of Kyushu. This exclusive evening marks the first appearance of JULIA—a Michelin-plated and Gault & Millau award-winning concept—in Fukuoka. At JULIA, wine takes center stage in an innovative approach to gastronomy. Sommelier, Kenichiro Motohashi selects wines inspired by the season and its finest ingredients, while Chef nao creates dishes that harmonize with their flavors, textures, and lingering impressions. Experience the harmony of two creative minds as they bring to life a menu unlike any other.

Miyazaki Eda Wagyu Experience at Genjyu

From the rich natural landscapes of Miyazaki comes the exceptional Eda Wagyu, raised with the utmost care by Eda Livestock without the use of growth promoters or additives. Revered for its purity, depth, and incomparable flavor, this rare Kyushu Wagyu is presented at Genjyu as an exquisite Teppanyaki course crafted

with masterful precision.

In addition, both the Kaiseki and Sushi courses will feature dishes that highlight the unique character of Eda Wagyu, each interpreted through the distinctive culinary lens of its respective style. Whether seared on the teppan, delicately arranged in a Kaiseki dish, or paired with the subtle artistry of sushi, the Wagyu is thoughtfully elevated with seasonal vegetables and local ingredients—each plate a tribute to the blessings of the region.

The harmony of exceptional ingredients and the craftsmanship of our chefs creates a singular gastronomic experience, available only at Genjyu.

Experience the Art of "Hakata Magemono" at The Ritz-Carlton, Fukuoka

Discover the elegance of Fukuoka’s traditional craftsmanship with an exclusive workshop dedicated to Hakata Magemono, a technique designated as an Intangible Cultural Property of Fukuoka Prefecture. Under the guidance of master artisan Tamaki Shibata, the only certified craftsman of Hakata magemono in Fukuoka,

guests will create their own bespoke wooden bento box.

Once completed, indulge in a specially curated bento prepared by the culinary team of Genjyu, featuring locally sourced seasonal ingredients. Choose from three exquisite styles—Kaiseki, Sushi, or Teppanyaki—highlighting Kyushu's finest black wagyu, fresh seafood, and vibrant vegetables. Your meal will be served in the serene ambiance of Genjyu or, for staying guests, in the privacy of your room, accompanied by premium Yame tea, one of Japan's most celebrated green teas.

As a keepsake, take home your handcrafted bento box, elegantly wrapped in a Hakata-ori furoshiki by Nishimura Orimono, along with artisanal chopsticks from Inoue Rantai Lacquerware.

11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Workshop / Lunch will be served at Genjyu.

The Ritz-Carlton, Fukuoka presents an exclusive Hakata Bento Box, available at Japanese restaurant Genjyu. Experience the elegance of Hakata Magemono with its graceful curves, complemented by Bantai lacquerware chopsticks and a Hakata-ori wrapping cloth adorned with the The Ritz-Carlton’s logo.

Each piece is a testament to Fukuoka's rich heritage of traditional craftsmanship, with Hakata Magemono recognized as an Intangible Cultural Property. This one-of-a-kind creation, blending the artistry of local artisans with the refinement of Genjyu, is the perfect keepsake from your journey or a thoughtful gift for someone special.
